Device Repair: A Step-by-Step Process with our Experts

Device Repair

Everybody wants a computer that “just works” without hassle, but unfortunately that is hardly ever the case. When a device slows down, breaks, or is damaged, the last thing your company wants to do is discard it and spend a bunch of money on a new one – that’s where Vista comes in. Instead of rushing to buy a new device, our experts can help diagnose and repair the issues! Vista IT Group is a certified repair site for Dell laptops and servers, with certified technicians ready to help.

Repair Process

What does our device repair process look like? Wonder no more! We’ve compiled a step-by-step rundown of how we troubleshoot your device repairs.

1

First, we will power on your laptop to see if it boots. Then we run a diagnostics tool to see if any of the components fail in testing. If they do fail, we find a solution to fix the failed component.

2

Next, we start the computer up fully and use Dell Support Assist to:

  • Update drivers
  • Scan the hardware a second time to assess the device health
  • Clean out old and temporary files
  • Tune the hardware to perform at its maximum potential
  • Optimize the WLAN card for improved network access
  • Scan for (and remove) viruses and malware

3

Then we run a hardware stress-test program that will make utilize the device resources to their maximum capacity. We do this step to ensure that the changes will not cause your computer to crash once it is returned to you.

4

Fourth, we physically clean the device. Computers produce heat when they’re being used and fans are used to help cool the components inside. However, this airflow also allows dust to enter the machine, which can lead to overheating if the dust is allowed to build up.

5

Last, we document your computer specs and summarize what steps were taken to get it properly functioning again. We call this our Vista Quality Checklist.

If everything “works” but the device is still not performing optimally, it could mean it’s time for an upgrade. We’ll connect you with an account manager and they’ll take the guesswork out of finding a new device. First, they ask about your use-case requirements and then provide options for an upgrade.

Vista’s Warranty Program

We often find that technology equipment is still in use long after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. To help you extend the life of your IT gear, Vista offers the Extended Hardware Warranty. It can be added to practically any device, of any age, from any manufacturer, no matter where it was purchased.

Computer maintenance isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s necessary to keep your device running smoothly. We’re here to help.
