MX Series
Dell’s PowerEdge MX Series is the first modular platform designed for the software-defined data center. With a kinetic infrastructure, shared pools of disaggregated compute, storage and fabric resources can be tailored to any specific workload demands. The PowerEdge MX series allows users to increase performance and efficiency by creating on-demand hardware capacity. The Dell PowerEdge MX Series consists of the MX7000 Modular Chassis, MX740c Compute Sled, MX840c Compute Sled, MX5016s Storage Sled, and the MX I/O Modules.
Dell PowerEdge MX7000
The Dell PowerEdge MX7000 Modular Chassis brings together traditional and software-defined data centers with unmatched flexibility and agility. At its foundation, the PowerEdge MX7000 chassis hosts disaggregated blocks of storage and server to create consumable resources on-demand. The Dell MX7000 is a 7U modular enclosure that contains eight slots and holds 2S single of four 4S double-width compute sleds and 12Gbs single-width storage sleds. With a kinetic infrastructure, the PowerEdge MX chassis contains full-featured compute sleds with Intel Xeon Scalable processors, scalable on-board SAS, SATA, and NVMe storage drives, and the ability to scale when business needs grow with a fabric expansion capability for up to 10 chassis in fabric.

Dell PowerEdge MX740c
The Dell PowerEdge MX740c compute sled delivers performance and capacity options to suit a wide range of demanding workloads. With up to two 28-core second generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 24 DDR4 DIMM slots with support for RDIMM/LRDIMM, up to 2933MT/s speeds, the PowerEdge MX740c compute sled provides no-compromise compute options and high-speed networking. The Dell MX740c compute sled includes high performance storage options of up to six 2.5” SAS/SATA (HDD/SDD) or NVMe PCIe SSD drives and up to 12 slots for Intel Optane DC persistent memory DCPMM (6.1TB) with a maximum capacity of 7.68TB per server. Dell PowerEdge MX840c
The Dell PowerEdge MX840c compute sled excels at handling mission critical applications and performance workloads with its no-compromise compute, rich storage, and high-speed networking capabilities. With support for up to four 28-core second generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 48 DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting RDIMM/LRDIMM, up to 2933MT/s speeds, the Dell MX840c is ready to handle database-driven applications and demanding workloads. Up to four double-width Dell MX840c compute sleds can be installed into the Dell MX7000 modular chassis at one time. The PowerEdge NX840c includes support for up to 24 DIMM slots for Intel Optane DCPMM (12.2TB) with a maximum memory capacity of 15.36TB per server, and storage options that include up to eight 2.5” SAS/SATA (HDD/SDD) or NVMe PCIe SSD drives.

Dell PowerEdge MX5016c
The Dell PowerEdge MX5016c storage sled is ideal for dense virtualization workloads, software-defined storage, and databases. With 12Gbps direct-attached SAS storage, hot-pluggable drives and hot serviceable expanders and a drive bay drawer with up to 16 2.5” DAD (HDD/SDD), the PowerEdge MX5160c delivers a rich set of storage options. The Dell MX5016c storage sled also provides granular drive-level assignment across one or more PowerEdge MX compute sleds. Giving the ability to expand, users can scale-out to seven single-width MC5016c sleds with a 112-drive count per Dell MX7000 modular chassis.
Dell PowerEdge MX I/O
The Dell PowerEdge MX I/O Modules are the next generation of modular switches that lower overall costs and network management complexity while maximizing the non-stop connectivity needs of today’s demanding data centers. With four different models to choose from, there is sure to be a perfect fit for business needs of all sizes.
